B-I-N-G-O
How do the Vacaville High School Music Boosters raise funds to assist the music program?
B-I-N-G-O! Tuesday night bingo has played a vital role over the past 15 or so years in supporting the music programs of the north side schools of Vacaville. The role of the bingo program has changed through the years. In good times, it has enabled the Music Boosters to provide instruments for the elementary school music program, some of which the students are still currently using, as well as the Jepson Music program. In lean years, we have had to focus on the Vacaville High School music program to keep our Jazz program and other programs from being cut entirely by the school district.
What does bingo provide for your students on a day-to-day basis?
· Expensive instruments and cases that many students may not be able to afford to purchase or rent.
· Uniforms
· Sheet Music
· The Jazz program
· Music Secretary
· Entrance fees for Honor Band competitions
· Facility use fees for Vacaville Performing Arts Theater
Is this Bingo program a seasonal fundraiser?
No! The bingo program is run every Tuesday night from 3:30pm-10:30pm, 52 weeks a year and never closes unless it falls on Christmas day! We need approximately 25-30 parent volunteers per evening to run the bingo session.
What do volunteers do at bingo?
As a volunteer, we have many different jobs available in a 3 to 4 hour time block such as selling pulltabs & cashiering.
Besides contributing to the music program’s success in general, how does working bingo benefit my student?
By working bingo, the hours you work are credited to your student’s account, which can help pay for:
· Annual music tour each spring
· Music-related camps ( beginning as early as 7th and 8th grade)
· Reeds, strings, and other miscellaneous items ( a complete list is located in the music room at Vaca High)
Who is eligible to work bingo?
Parents can begin volunteering to work bingo when a student begins the music program in elementary school. The funds in a students account will follow them all the way through high school. The funds will be available for use when they are attending Jepson for music camp only. Then, when they attend Vacaville High, they will have full access to the funds available to them for approved expenditures.

Why do we pass the "hat" at concerts?
Each time we use the Vacaville Performing Arts Center (VPAT), we are charged a fee for the facilities. While this fee used to range between $600 and $700 for each concert, due to recent increases in city fees to use VPAT, our costs for each concert now tops $900! By passing the "hat", these fees can be paid for (or close to it) without taking money from the accounts that provide our students with sheet music and instrument repairs.
Thank you for your past and future generosity!
